Community Facilities

The Cape is one of Australia’s most amenity-rich and sustainable communities. Our 40-hectare site is a haven of recreational and community facilities designed for people of all ages and abilities. Around 50% of The Cape is dedicated to open spaces, including large and small parks, restored wetlands, waterways, habitat areas, and an off-leash dog park. These areas provide ample opportunities for relaxation, recreation, and connection with nature. Here’s a glimpse of what you can enjoy at The Cape:

Explore kilometres of granitic sand walking and cycling paths that connect all parts of our community. These paths invite residents to step out into the beautiful coastal environment, meet friends, and enjoy stunning ocean views over Bass Strait. From some of our elevated parks, you can see Mt Oberon in Wilsons Promontory and Cape Woolamai in Phillip Island. A walk at The Cape takes you through ocean views, wetlands, creek lines, large and small parks, the community farm, sports facilities, and down to local surf breaks and safe swimming beaches.

The Cape Community Farm, a $2.5 million community farm is a nationally unique asset featuring innovative water-efficient raised wicking beds, rainwater harvesting, a nursery, community buildings, compost areas, beekeeping, an event space, a farmhouse, an outdoor classroom, seating areas, and social spaces. The farm is already growing large amounts of food for our members, with all elements scheduled for completion in 2025.

Our vibrant community playground caters to all ages, featuring a fun flying fox, water play, sandcastle building areas, and relaxing swings. While the kids play, adults can use the nearby exercise machines to stay fit.

Significant efforts have been made to restore what was once a cleared cattle farm into thriving wetlands and wildlife habitats. Today, The Cape is home to koalas, kangaroos, echidnas, and over 130 bird species. Detailed observations of our thriving wildlife populations can be found at a wildlife blog called Cape Chatter, written by one of our residents David Hartney.

The main car park in the community is equipped with a Tritium electric vehicle fast charger, complementing the electric vehicle charge points as standard in all homes in the estate. This supports our commitment to sustainable living.

All homes at The Cape are connected to the NBN with fibre to the home, facilitating a work-from-home lifestyle and ensuring residents stay connected.

The Cape is an on-leash estate to protect local wildlife. However, we also offer an off-leash dog park, providing a large area for dogs to enjoy and socialize. There’s a sheltered area for owners to stand or sit while their four-legged friends exercise and play.

The Cape combines respect for our beautiful coastal environs, with active lifestyle, local food, energy efficiency, low bills and a thriving growing community. The combination is unique in Australian property circles.

Experience the harmonious blend of modern living and natural beauty at The Cape. Whether you’re walking the paths, playing sports, or enjoying the community farm, there’s something here for everyone.
