Did you know that The Cape has designed and created kilometres of beautiful granitic sand walking and cycling paths that meander through the whole landscape, making everything in our community accessible via a short walk or bike ride. We jumped on our bikes to take you on a virtual tour with this short film below.
Our path network allows you to access and explore all of the beautiful features that make The Cape unique in Victorian property circles – including our sports area, community farm, wetlands and restored creeklines, off leash dog park, large open space areas and smaller pocket parks. The paths connect with high points that have expansive views to Wilsons Promontory to the east and Cape Woolamai to the west. The walking and cycling paths also allow a short ride to safe swimming and surf beaches as well as the local tavern and shops.
Research has long shown that neighbourhoods with ample walking and cycling options have been shown to improve health outcomes in communities. Having these options allow people to engage in incidental exercise where they use their landscape as their gym, and walking and cycling becomes an effortless part of the daily routine. We see this every day at The Cape where our landscape and walking paths invite residents into the outdoors to use the beautiful granitic sand path network and engage with our coastal environment.
Other research is also showing the positive mental health benefits of interaction with blue and green spaces and connection to nature. Good urban design that incorporates urban greening, nature, walking and cycling are desirable features that have been shown to correlate with improved property values.
We love seeing the amount of use of our walking and cycling paths on a daily basis, and notice how much the landscape invites people outside to experience our coastal environs. They also encourage the great social interactions that occur on the path and park network which is part of why The Cape is such a friendly and welcoming community.
See this video below to experience it yourself! Thanks for all of the great work by The Sustainable Landscape Company in designing and creating these wonderful assets for us. We look forward to seeing you out walking or cycling at the Cape sometime soon.
