The Oaks

By TS Constructions

The first home built by TS Constructions at The Cape residential project in Cape Paterson is a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 196 sqm double storey dwelling, which generates more energy than it uses, is comfortable in all types of weather with minimal heating and cooling, and saves homeowners significant money through the home’s minimal running costs.

The home captures most of it’s own water, generates surplus solar energy for an electric vehicle, and is an example of the quality of sustainable houses at The Cape.

The home has been independently assessed as having less than $500 per annum running costs, which is approximately 15% of the running costs of a state average home of the same size.

This high level of energy efficiency has been achieved by using a combination of materials and design concepts.

This unique design is suitable for any climate or setting (urban or rural), and would be particularly suited to areas that receive high winds where the central courtyard can offer a retreat.

Dune 1

By ADAPT DESIGN GROUP

The design brief behind Dune 1 was to create an extremely energy efficient dwelling whilst keeping construction costs low.

The home showcases all the fundamentals of best practice energy efficient design and construction – including good orientation, quality insulation, crossflow ventilation, double glazing, thermal mass and shading.

The result was this 8.7 star rated home featuring a 8 kw photovoltaic system including battery storage. The combination of these sustainability, energy efficiency and onsite clean energy generation elements will ensure this home is “energy positive” – generating a surplus of clean energy on an annual basis, with the potential for a net return of over five hundred dollars per annum for surplus power generated.
