Charge Up and Explore: Fast Charging and Scenic Walks at The Cape

 

Did you know that The Cape is home to a fast charger for electric vehicles (EVs)? Conveniently located opposite the Display home on Sunlight Boulevard, our fast charger is equipped with a 2 X CCS connector 50kW station, shared between the two connectors, provided by Chargefox.

While your car charges, take the opportunity to explore The Cape. See for yourself how sustainable housing coexists with the local environment and our beautiful part of the coast. Here are six easily achieved walks to enjoy whilst charging your car:

 

Off leash dog park (5)
500 metres / 7 minutes to EV charger

The Cape offers a fantastic off-leash dog park where residents and visitors can let their dogs run, exercise, and socialise with other dogs freely. Located a short stroll down the hill past the sports precinct, playground, and farm, the dog park is a perfect destination for pet owners.

The dog park features nature play elements, a water feature, and a large open area for dogs to run freely. For dogs who are a bit less outgoing, there is a quiet space at the northern end of the park. Additionally, a timber shelter provides a comfortable spot for visitors to sit and relax while watching their dogs play in the shade.

Please note that once you exit the dog park and are within The Cape, it is strictly a dogs-on-leash area to protect the local wildlife.

 

Sports precinct and nature playground (7, 10)
250 metres / 3 minutes to EV charger

Do your kids need to burn off some energy before getting back into the car? Head down the hill past the sports precinct, and you’ll find a fantastic playground featuring a flying fox, swings, slides, water play, and more.

If you have a spare ball or pickleball equipment, take advantage of the sports precinct’s facilities, including the basketball court and pickleball courts. It’s a great way to get some exercise and fun in before hitting the road again.

The Cape Community Farm (8)
300 metres / 4 minutes to EV charger

Stroll past the playground and visit The Cape Community Farm. Open Monday to Friday from 10 AM to 3 PM, or on Saturdays for market day from 10 to 11 AM, where you can grab some freshly harvested produce. This water-efficient urban farm is run by Adrian, our full-time farmer, along with local residents and volunteers.

Designed to grow a variety of produce, from fruit trees to vegetables and herbs, the farm features 500 square meters of raised wicking beds, including 350 square meters of Foodcube wicking beds and soon to be built is the potting shed and residents building. Come check out this sustainable farm and see how we grow our delicious and nutritious food efficiently!

Spot the Kangaroos Walk (9a)
600 metres / 9 minutes, loop to EV charger
Take a moment to overlook the wetlands and count how many kangaroos you can see! These kangaroos enjoy lazing in the sun, sheltered from the wind. It’s a perfect spot to appreciate the local wildlife and enjoy a peaceful break before getting back into your car.

Whalewatchers Lookout (13)
750 metres / 10 minutes to EV charger
Why not take a stroll to Whalewatchers Lookout and enjoy the stunning views over Bass Strait? During the winter months, keep an eye out for whales passing by! This beautiful walk takes you along the wetlands, where you can often see ducks and birds fossicking about, or kangaroos nearby.

Nothing beats the view when you get to the lookout; there’s something about the ocean that just relaxes and energises you. It’s the perfect way to recharge before hitting the road once your car is fully charged.

The Loop walk (>>)
1.96 kilometres / 26 minutes to EV charger
This is a great walk to really stretch those legs before embarking on your trip. Take in the sports area, nature playground, community farm, and off-leash dog park, passing along wetlands where you might be lucky enough to see kangaroos lounging in the sun or hopping about, along with ducks and birds going about their day.

Walk back through the established residential area, where you can admire the beautiful architecture of sustainable homes that blend seamlessly with nature.
